Beschreibung der Videos

Firstly, apologies for the somewhat rare upload frequency of new videos lately, I did not get around to doing much editing work over the past weeks.

Today I present a Central line video, showing one of the less busier stations, Holland Park. It is located in the Borough of Chelsea and Kensington, west of Hyde Park between Shepherd’s Bush and Notthing Hill Gate stations.

The Central line is the longest and busiest (in terms of number of passengers) Underground line in London, but Holland Park station has a very quiet feel to it. This is despite it being quite centrally located within London.

The station opened in July 1900 as part of the Cental London Railway. The station building was refurbished in 1950 and the lifts and platforms were just recently refurbished in 2016. Trains run every couple of minutes in each direction, serving West Ruislip and Ealing Broadway to the west, and travelling to Epping and the Hainault loop to the east.

Rolling stock on this line used is the 1992 Tube stock. This type of stock has been the last one still using (semiconductor-controlled) DC traction motors, which emit a quite distinct high-pitch sound.

Enjoy!

Recorded 24 November 2017.
