This film shows the subway system of the city of Shanghai.

With 24 Million inhabitants Shanghai is one of the largest cities in the world. It's subway system is fairly new: It only opened in 1993, but since grew to an impressive 14 lines, 330 stations and 537km route length, and new routes will still open over the next years. The subway is very well adopted by the people and it became one of the busiest in the world.

This film shows some scenes of the subway system. Most of it is built under ground, and platform edges are usually equipped with screen doors, which makes it a bit hard to film. Nevertheless, I hope to be able to give a good impression of the Shanghai Subway and how it works.

Enjoy!

Chambers Street: https://youtu.be/pOrGDUDG4qs

Today we are in Lower Manhattan at Bowery and Canal Street Stations, focusing on the BMT Nassau Street and BMT Broadway lines.

Bowery, which is located near the Williamsburg Bridge and is served by (J) and (Z) trains, is similarly dilapidated as Chambers Street Station on the same line, where I had filmed a previous video. It is quite fitting that the (J) is operated with old R32 cars, making for an interesting atmosphere at this station.

We then move one station downtown to Canal Street, which is in much better shape. Parts of it had been recently renovated. Besides (J) and (Z) trains, this station is also serving the BMT Broadway and the IRT East Side lines (the latter of which is not shown in this film). The BMT Broadway line has actually two separate platforms. While the (R) train continues straight on its way downtown, (N) and (Q) trains make a sharp turn before approaching their dedicated platform.

Enjoy!
