Mehringdamm is a Berlin U-Bahn station located on the U6 and the U7.
History
Opened in 1924 as Belle-Alliance Straße it was built by Grenander and later renovated by Rümmler. The station's ceiling collapsed during the Battle of Berlin.
In 1946 the station was renamed Franz-Mehring-Straße, after the socialist politician.
In 1947, the station received its current name Mehringdamm. Following renovations in 1965, passengers could transfer from the U6 to the U7 on the same platform.
The U7 is a rail line on the Berlin U-Bahn. It runs completely underground for a length of 31.8 kilometres (19.8 mi) through 40 stations and connects Spandau, via Neukölln, to Gropiusstadt and Rudow. The U7 was originally the south-eastern branch of the Nord-Süd-Bahn (U6) that ran between the branching point at Belle-Alliance-Straße (Mehringdamm) and Grenzallee; however, in the 1960s, this stretch was separated from the rest of the line and extended at each end to form a new line.
The U7 is Berlin's longest underground line, both in terms of absolute length and total travel time, and one of the longest all-subterranean lines in Europe.

The U3 is a line of the Hamburg U-Bahn. The ring line with a length of 20.68 kilometres (12.85 mi) serves 25 stations. The first part opened in 1912. The line starts in Wandsbek-Gartenstadt and leads via Barmbek into the ring passing through the city centre and back to Barmbek.
History
The ring line was built from 1906 to 1912 and had a length of 17.48 km (10.86 mi) and with 23 stations. The first part of the line which was first opened in February 1912, was the part between Rathaus via Hauptbahnhof and to Barmbek. On 2 January 1967 the first part of the line to Billstedt opened with the section leading to Horner Rennbahn. Since then, the U3 line was not a ring line anymore until the year of 2009.
In 2009 eastern parts of U2 and U3 lines were swapped behind Berliner Tor. Before that, the U2 line led to Wandsbek-Gartenstadt. Since then, it ends in Mümmelmannsberg, and the U3 became a ring line again with a branch to Wandsbek-Gartenstadt.
